ACEL is pleased to announce our 2015 Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year, Jan Wichayanuparp!! She will be recognized at our #2016ACELebration of Leadership Gala.
Jan Wichayanuparp is the co-founder of Sweet Republic, an award winning artisan ice cream company that has been featured on the Food Network and named among the top ice creams in the country by USA Today and Time Magazine. Since opening the door of their first scoop shop in Scottsdale in 2008, Jan and her business partner, Helen Yung, have grown the company to three locations in the greater Phoenix area. In addition, Sweet Republic ice cream is distributed at Whole Foods and fine dining establishments throughout Arizona.
Jan’s passion for ice cream started at a young age while her family was living in Bangkok, Thailand. Her parents’ immigration to Los Angeles during her elementary school years opened up opportunity for more varieties of ice cream and more ice cream occasions. On the road from avid eater to ice cream entrepreneur, Jan received her formal ice cream making training at the Frozen Desserts Institute in St. Louis.
Jan brings nearly a decade of corporate finance experience to her artisan ice cream business, having worked in investment banking in New York, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong. Prior to opening Sweet Republic, Jan enjoyed a successful career as a Vice President of Asia Pacific Equity Capital Markets at Citigroup, where she oversaw equity and equity-linked transactions.
Jan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles and earned her Master of Business Administration from the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration.
