ACEL is pleased to announce our 2018 Member of the Year, Michelle Matheus. She will be recognized at our #2019ACELebration Gala on January 12, 2019 at Double Tree Paradise Valley Resort
Michelle Matheus was raised in a multicultural home with her younger brother. Her parents instilled in them a strong work ethic through their own hard work and deep appreciation of their immigrant heritage. Alongside this work ethic, Michelle developed a passion for promoting and understanding culture and language. Upon graduation from Scottsdale’s Saguaro High School, she went on to pursue a degree in Political Science with a focus on East Asian Languages from Arizona State University.
Michelle worked for Macy’s Credit and Customer Service for 11 years, starting as a phone representative and but then quickly grew into technical project management positions. Over the years, her role evolved from Compliance Auditor to positions such as Testing Analyst, Business Analyst, and Project Lead for custom built programs and software implementation. She also led a team of compliance auditors to take on different company initiatives and support the relationship with government oversight.
While at Macy’s, Michelle lead Macy’s Diversity Council initiatives regarding promoting and celebrating Asian Pacific Islander culture and organizing Macy’s participation in volunteerism for Special Olympics, Child Crisis Arizona and St. Vincent de Paul.
Currently, Michelle provides her expertise as an Implementation Consultant with a focus on supporting the Human Resources product of the Human Capital Management process for ADP. Since her arrival to ADP, she has taken on the roles of Vice President of Membership and Vice President of Education for the ADP Toastmaster Club. Michelle’s commitment and passion give her the energy to also serve as the President of the Asian-Pacific Islander Business Resource Group where she has worked on initiatives in partnership with the American Diabetes Association and the Midwest Food Bank.
Michelle is married to Thomas who supports her love of travel, Disney, comic books, and animals. They live in Gilbert with their Golden Doodle and four cats.
