Dr. Kenja Hassan, an accomplished professional guided by ASU’s inclusive mission, fosters strong relationships between ASU and diverse communities across Arizona. Her impactful work includes bringing college preparation programs to American Indian youth on reservations, organizing national dialogs on pressing issues, guiding student service projects, and launching influential reports on the status of Arizona’s diverse communities.

Notably, Dr. Hassan played a pivotal role in establishing the independent community-based non-profit, State of Black Arizona. She currently serves as a liaison to African- and Asian-American communities and civic leadership organizations representing minority populations.

Her dedication to strengthening Arizona communities has earned her numerous recognitions from esteemed organizations such as the Phoenix Business Journal, City of Phoenix Human Relations Commission, Arizona Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, NAACP, and more.

Dr. Hassan earned her A.B. in Religion from Princeton University, an M.A. in Religious Studies from Arizona State University with a focus on American Indian traditions, and a Ph.D. from the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, specializing in health disparities related to HIV and the impact of patient/provider relationships on health outcomes.
