(Phoenix, Arizona) — Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders (ACEL) is honored to welcome Mr. Nobumichi Hara as a presenter at the upcoming 2019 Dynamics of Leadership Conference this July at the Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountain, where will focus on the topic of “Be the Change: Leadership in the Non-Profit Sector”.
Nobu Hara was recently with Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona where he served as their Senior Vice President and Chief Talent Officer. Nobu oversaw the fastest growing goodwill organization in the country with revenues from $35MM to $160MM. Most notably, he was influential in changing their strategies to move away from social services and focus on job placements where they became the most successful placement based Goodwill in the United States with 44,000 people obtaining jobs in 2017. Nobu has served as the head of HR for four organizations in higher education, financial services, technology/marketing, and social enterprise industries.
Nobu serves on the Advisory Board of ACEL. He also served as the President of the Senior Human Resource Executive Council (Phoenix) and he was the Chair of the Society of Human Resource Management Arizona State Council (AZSHRM). In 2012, Nobu received the coveted Ann Byrnes SPHR Memorial Award for Professional Excellence from AZSHRM, the highest recognition given to an HR professional in Arizona.
In 2011 Hara testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on workforce protections as part of its review of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and in 2012, he was named the winner of the Ann Byrnes, SPHR Award for Professional Excellence. Hara received his MBA from California State University, Long Beach, and holds a Senior Professional Human Resource certification.
On July 12, Hara will bring his proven expertise to the conference where he will use his experience working in the non-profit sector to share the ins and outs of pursuing your passion with a nonprofit organization and to learn how leading change in nonprofit organizations can be incredibly powerful for the communities served and how lessons from that environment can translate into career fulfillment and advancement. This also presents an opportunity to better understand the nuances of working within a nonprofit group.
Hara received his BA and MBA degrees from the California State University, Long Beach and holds a Senior Professional Human Resource as well as a Senior Certified Professional certification. He has been married 42 years and has 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
