Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders (ACEL) proudly presents Albert Shen as the keynote for the Welcome Reception at the Dynamics of Leadership Conference where he will describe his journey as a community business leader with over 15 years of federal, state, and local governmental engagements on legislative policy supporting minority businesses. He will also follow with a workshop titled, “The Impact of an Effective Business Leader in Politics”.  Join his session to learn more about best practices on how to move forward in your career, whether you are in the political sphere or not.

Albert Shen was appointed by President Obama to be the National Deputy Director of the U.S Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency in 2014. His leadership elevated minority business participation in new international markets in Asia, Africa, and South America. Before he joined the Obama Administration, he leveraged his background as a minority business owner as CEO of Shen Consulting, Inc., a successful transportation and civil engineering consulting firm that managed major public transportation projects such as the Seattle Tacoma International Airport’s Rental Car Facility Program (a $400M project) and many other large-scale civil, transportation, and environmental programs in the Pacific Northwest.

Currently, Albert Shen is a senior leader within the Verizon Public Sector Strategy team and was recently part of Verizon Smart Communities and the National Lead for Smart Airports. Previously, he was a Senior Advisor for the Toyota Mobility Foundation working on developing new smart city mobility innovation and sustainable energy investment strategies in U.S. cities. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian American Action Fund (AAAFund), the Democratic National Committee, National Finance Committee Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Leadership Council, as well as the Biden 2020 AAPI Finance Council where he is leading efforts for more Asian American Business Executives and Advocates to be high level donors to the party.
