I have known Lloyd for quite a few months now since starting the Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders (ACEL) mentorship program and he has served not only as a valued mentor but also as a friend and guide for both my professional and personal aspirations. Lloyd is a person who is deeply committed to the mentorship program and has helped nurture my growth.

Lloyd’s dedication to creating a space for ideological innovation and professional development is paramount to none. I have learned so much under his tutelage in relation to building community. He has allowed me to bounce ideas and simply “wonder” which is a rarity in today’s society. Too often, teacher-like figures will simply force a blueprint upon their students but instead, Lloyd has encouraged me to make mistakes and pursue my goals. As a result, I have been given the opportunity to work with Lloyd and the Asian Pacific Community in Action as the Public Affairs and Civic Engagement Strategist to help galvanize and strengthen the Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian voice here in Arizona. None of this would be possible without his guidance.

Being able to help elevate the Asian American and Pacific Islander community Arizona brings me great joy. The catalyst of Lloyd’s mentorship sparked my energy and momentum moving forward so that is why I believe he is deserving of the Mentor of the Year. Not only have I benefited from our mentorship, but now I will be able to help the rest of our community in relation to getting civically engaged.
