The Asian Corporate – Phoenix Chapter (ACEL) would like to congratulate Marian Yim for being selected as a recipient of the 2013 Positively Powerful Woman Award for Corporate Leadership

Marian Yim is a member of ACEL’s Corporate Advisory Council. Marian is a Shareholder in the law firm of Wong Fujii Carter, P.C. She represents and advises professionals and small businesses. A native of Oregon, Ms. Yim earned her undergraduate degree as an English Major at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and her law degree from Cornell Law School before relocating to Phoenix in 1982.

Marian was an Assistant Attorney General for Arizona, an Arizona Supreme Court Staff Attorney, and an Adjunct Professor at the Arizona State University School of Law. As legal counsel to former Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Ms. Yim was policy advisor on environment and natural resources, international economic development, arts and culture, and education. In 2006 Ms. Yim was appointed by Gov. Janet Napolitano to the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency.

Marian co-founded and was Founding President of the Arizona Asian American Bar Association (AAABA) in 1993 and now serves on the NAPABA Foundation Scholarship Committee.

The Positively Powerful Woman Awards are given to servant leaders who have created or led legacy organizations that have stood the test of time. There are six categories: Corporate Leadership, Nonprofit Leadership, Global Leadership, Philanthropic Leadership, Spiritual Leadership and Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Her accomplishments will be celebrated at the annual Asian American Pacesetter Awards Ceremony and Reception.
