My experience with the Mentor program exceeded my expectations. My goal was to start my career here in Arizona in Supply Chain in the High-tech industry. I came to the United States for my master’s degree three years ago. Back then I had just graduated from the MBA program at Thunderbird School of Global Management. I was not sure whether I truly wanted to settle down in Arizona and really needed guidance from someone who is experienced professionally and personally.

Now I have been working for an IT company for half a year and am about to start a family. I got two professional certificates in Project Management and Supply Chain Management. I want to thank Jason Wong and the Mentor Program team who brought Dr. Kayong Holston to me. Over the last several months, Dr. Holston has been a friend, a teacher and surrogate family. She supported me while I was going through a not-so-easy life transition period. She listens to me and guides me to the right path for my career and personal development. She also gives practical suggestions when it comes to finding solutions to solve my problems. Her professional and personal experiences enabled her to act as a great resource for me. I am very grateful that she is always able to see where I needed improvement.

She is a lovely and admirable lady who is respected by the organization and community. I feel very lucky to have her as my mentor and I want to say Thank You to her here. Although I am moving to another state soon, I believe our mentor-mentee relationship and friendship will go on no matter where we are.

I hope this Mentor program will continue the great work moving forward to help more young professionals in the community. Lastly I want to thank Khonnie Silivongxay who has done a wonderful job as our mentor program liaison. Thank you!
