Becoming an entrepreneur is often an experience filled with risks, fears and failures — but it doesn’t always have to be that way.

ACEL is bringing four professionals in the startup landscape — Allison DeVane, Rodney Hu, Bennett Kim and Tran Tran — to the Dynamics of Leadership conference on July 8 for an entrepreneurial panel about “Initializing Your Startup.” The panelists will discuss the bright side of owning a startup at any stage. In addition, the entrepreneurs will discuss hardships faced they personally faced to help you get your business moving smoothly, while maintaining balance and facing fears of the unknown.

DeVane is a pioneer of gourmet tea preparation and innovation in the beverage industry, as the founder of Teaspressa. On the panel, she offers her experience as one of only 10 women in the U.S. to have been mentored in the Tory Burch Foundation’s Business Fellows Program, and as a mentor herself for the ASU Entrepreneurs Club and Alumni Association. Teaspressa is one of Shark Tank’s most widely recognized products.

Hu is a recognized leader in the state for his contributions to local food an culture. He is the owner of the Yucca Tap Room, as well as a founding member of the Arizona Distilling Company, which created the first locally distilled spirit in the Phoenix area since Prohibition. Hu also has experience in investment, sales and trading with Bear Wagner Specialists, Goldman Sachs and more.

Kim brings the perspective of a proven business leader to the panel. He is currently a managing partner of Big Rock Senior Housing, a national developer of upscale senior housing communities in which he has also served as Chief Investment Officer. His experience also extends to Walt Disney Imagineering and Merrill Lynch. Kim was named one of the nation’s “20 Rising Stars of Real Estate” in 2006.

As a highly established entrepreneur since 2001, Tran will discuss how she was able to build a business from the ground up. She has earned multiple Top 25 Minority Business awards since creating Axis Employment Services, which has changed lives for many in need of careers. In the entrepreneurial panel, Tran will play a role in changing startup owners’ futures.

The panel will be moderated by EntreAsians founder Dale Ting, who seeks to help budding leaders sustain their chosen lifestyles and safety nets while running profitable businesses. Ting has been a successful lifestyle entrepreneur since 2011, when he established his multi-venture company, Wild Ting Enterprises, and is the founder of ACEL’s SoCal chapter.
